meteors

We spread the blanket on the wet grass and lie down.

The meteors shooting through the sky, through the branches
of the wet trees moving in the wind. He sang to me.

There were locusts. I closed my eyes.

"-tell me what it's like," I said. He put his hand over my eyes, he pulled me against him.

"its like a snow globe," he said. And I could feel him smile, his teeth against my neck.

Lying there. The stars fading into the dawn. Dew on our faces. The meteors, faint in the sky.
They were like lines traced into water, but I remembered where they were written.

Sorry I haven't been posting much--have been too happy, and also out of town :)

My brother got married, I went to Lollapalooza.

Lollaland! It was tremendous; I saw Tool and Neko Case and --Lou Reed--!

Ah la la,

and the most beautiful black-haired girl I've ever seen grabbed me out of a crowd,
she kissed me until the sky spun around us...

you perfect woman, out there somewhere, I wish I knew your name. Oh, my friends, dragging me away...!

But book is running very well--please send me zen discipline and good wishes, friends.

in my misdirected and all directioned love,

Zen discipline and great wishes your way, gorgeous!
Loved this post notwithstanding its brevity.
But then again, I love everything you write.

Glad to hear the writing is going well and I cannot wait until I can get my hands on a copy :)

Congratulations to your brother too and I'm glad you thoroughly enjoyed the break! You deserve it.

Thanks too for satisfying my obsession with your writing, perfect :)

I cannot send what I do not have. But I always have encouragement! Just keep writing, girly, and rewriting. Lucky you to have lived in a place where you could see the meteors. We have too much light down here in the so-called magic city.

I'm learning about the Yin and Yang in my Religions class. It turns out there's a common misconception. Some believe that one is good while the other is bad (positive or negative). But in fact one is winter and the other spring. Or one is night and the other day. You can even say that one can represent life and the other death. It's bad if one exists more than the other. The balance of the yin and yang is when they both exist in harmony.

There's my zen for you. Much love! Glad to hear you're doing well!

hi, sweetheart!! Everything is going very well--I've been traveling some more--I am city shopping!

and finished my book a couple months ago :)

I'm just editing it now, working on query letters to agents. Going to start mailing those this month.

I've got several new stories but I'm on the fence about putting anything else up on the blog.

I am thinking, though, about starting a website about the process of writing a book. I don't know that I'll even be able to get Mermaid published but I have learned a lot (rather painfully. Lesson one: backups daily...)

Thank you so much for all your encouragement, lovie. It gave me the bones to keep going.

--you STILL give me the bones to keep going! And so, I have a question I've been meaning to email you...
